War on Christmas: TikTok’s Anti-Holiday Videos Stir Outrage

In the modern age of social media enlightenment, it appears some brave souls have ventured to the depths of the internet only to chide jolly old Christmas itself. Yes, indeed, while the rest of the world basks in yuletide cheer, a few have taken it upon themselves to reveal Christmas as a “demonic” festival. These digital prophets, brimming with newfound TikTok truths, have decided to renounce a holiday that fills so many lives with joy, family, and—gasp—gifts.

One might wonder, dear reader, what possesses someone to go unplugging strings of twinkling lights and unspooling festive wrapping paper while declaring their disdain for the holiday season? It’s there on the internet, apparently. Someone, somewhere, has pinpointed that Christmas is naught but pagan pageantry. And while history may be debated on that account, it’s Christmas in the present that brings so many people together with generosity and goodwill—more valuable than, say, the latest online grievances.

Of course, this skepticism isn’t isolated to antiquated historical critiques. Others, seemingly traumatized by unpleasant holiday memories, decide that if they can’t enjoy the festivities, no one else should. Yet, they go beyond expressing this sentiment quietly; they announce it loudly, ensuring everyone knows they’re not with the merrymakers. Bah, humbug, indeed. Somehow, amid their loathing, these self-appointed guardians of good taste overlook the joy intended to be shared and spread.

And then there’s the matter of our beloved St. Nick—or Chris Kringle, if you wish to ruffle some feathers. His character, shrouded in legend, with a bag full of aliases, could indeed raise a skeptical eyebrow or two. But, really, imagine expending one’s energy to dissect Santa’s employment practices and toy acquisition methods as if he’s just another entry on a time card. It’s a time-honored tradition of make-believe, not an IRS audit.

For those who proclaim themselves too sophisticated for a simple “Merry Christmas,” their verbosity rivaling Dickens himself offers a new twist. Why wish someone well in two words when you can envelope them in a twenty-second monologue of your theological and cultural superiority? It’s bound to leave even the most ardent coffee shop debater silent—if by choice or pure confusion, remains a mystery.

In the end, it’s a rather dreary business, trying to snuff out the light of Christmas. Instead of breaking spirits, one might suggest nurturing a kernel of hope and goodwill. After all, there’s more than enough darkness in the world without us creating more. Besides, when illuminated by fairy lights and laughter, even a Grinch’s heart can grow, threefold, they say. Perhaps an ounce of celebration—dare we call it cheer—is the prescription needed for the gloom-blighted digital age.
